Jack O’Sullivan Winners 2025
We are very honoured in Mulranny Golf Club to bring the Jack O’Sullivan Trophy from its historical home in Athlone to its spiritual home in Mulranny in 2025, given that we have won this Connacht title for the fifth time in seven years. The previous four occasions were in 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2024. This particular win is special for our Team Captain, Fergus Rothwell, as he captained the team to success for the third time in four years. We were honoured to have the trophy presented to
Fergus by Anne O’Sullivan, daughter of the late Jack after we beat a very competitive Roscommon Golf Club team in Athlone on Sunday 20th September 2025.
The win was very much a win for a very tightly knitted panel who had earlier defeated Carne Golf Club, Westport Golf Club and Swinford Golf Club to get out of Mayo. This was followed by a dramatic semi-final win over a gallant Gort Golf Club. The panel left no stone unturned in preparing for the entire competition as they travelled throughout Mayo and Connacht practicing and preparing for each round. All the hard work paid dividends with the hard-fought win in Athlone.
Our supporters travelled to Athlone and in large numbers and brought colour and atmosphere around the course as the lads played their hearts out, for our success. The excellent support was recognised by Fergus in his acceptance speech, in which he thanked members present in Athlone and back home in Mulranny for their unwavering support.
Our panel consisted of Fergus Rothwell (Captain), Christy McDonnell, Richard Keane, Seamus Granahan, Brian Ainsworth, Val Jennings, Ronan Mahon, Stephen Munnelly, Allan McAdam, Sean Fitzgerald, James Jennings, Pat McNamara, Kieran McNamara, Paddy Burke and Aodán Mac Suibhne.

JB Carr Connacht Championship Winners 2025
It was a proud day for Mulranny Golf Club as our JB Carr team defeated Roscommon Golf Club in a tightly contested final. After securing a Connacht Pennant, the team qualified for the competed in the J.B. Carr Diamond Trophy All-Ireland finals at Woodenbridge Golf Club in early September.
Unfortunately, it wasnt meant to be. Richie, John, and the JB Carr panel want to thank the Club and all of our supporters for what has been a magnificent weekend of golf and meeting new friends. The name Mulranny Golf Club has reached all corners of Ireland this weekend. We left our mark on the competition, but more importantly, we are regarded as people who are simply very nice, appreciated what we achieved (top four in Ireland) and showed that we are "a little place at the end of a rainbow" in west Mayo. We entertained on the golf course and also into the late hours of Sunday night and the early hours of Monday morning. Our huge support and players are embarking on the long journey home, and we wish everyone a very safe trip. Our exploits in Woodenbridge are over but will live long in the memory of all who travelled. Thanks to all who supported us back home also. Once again, safe journey home to all who travelled to Woodenbridge and thanks to everyone.
